What exactly is liposomal vitamin C?

A liposome is a tiny bubble (vesicle) made out of the same material as a cell membrane. Liposomes can be filled with drugs and used to deliver drugs for cancer and other diseases. The term liposomal is used to describe the encapsulation in a lipid form. In the case of vit. C, minute amounts of vit. C are covered by a lipid layer having a thickness in the nanometer range, thus completely wrapping the vitamin.

This way, the vitamin's bioavailability (= the fraction of the administered dose the body can make use of) is increased by a factor of 3 to 5. As is evident from numerous scientific studies, our body's need for vit. C as a treatment for serious diseases and infections and as a antioxidant exceeds manifold the previously assumed amounts.

Until recently, the only way to administer such amounts to our body has been the direct transfer to the bloodstream by means of intravenous infusions. With liposomal vitamin C, an oral administration is now possible which achieves an equally high efficacy!

The nanotechnology-engineered liposome we offer is very well received by the body, as the lipid has the same structure as the cell wall.

Liposomal vitamin C from acerola cherries

liposomales Vitamin C aus der Acerolakirsche von LipoLab As a novelty, we will be the first and only provider of vitamin C from acerola cherries shortly. Acerola cherries have a high content of vitamin C of 17-20%. Customers looking for 100% natural vitamin C supplements will like this offer.
However, the percentage of about 20% of the vitamin is also reflected in our liposomal form, which means that the content of vitamin C is smaller than the one in our standard product. Of course, we make sure that we only use 100% organic acerola cherries.

Referat liposomal vitamin C von Donsbach Video of Dr. Dornbach speaking about the effects of liposomal vitamin C

What are the properties of 'LipoLab' vitamin C?

  • has been used successfully in alternative cancer therapies
  • is an extremely powerful antioxidant
  • acts very antitoxic
  • in association with iron, high doses of vit. C produce hydrogen peroxide which in turn produces oxygen
  • is powerfully antibacterial and can replace all known antibiotics
  • can tackle all known viruses
  • promotes the production of glutathione (glutathione is considered the mother of defensive substances)
  • produces oxygen, thereby promoting the production of red blood cells (erythrocytes)
  • the effect of 6 grams of vit. C in liposomal form is about equal to the one achieved by administering 12 grams intravenously
  • the tolerability of the Vit.C liposome is excellent compared with conventional administration

How effective are the various forms of administration of vitamin C?

Here is a comparison of the efficacy / bioavailability of the different forms of administration of vit. C:

Form of administration Amount [mg] Bioavailability [mg] Bioavailability [%]
oral adm.: tablets, fizzy tablets, capsules, liquids 1000 50 - 150 5 - 15
IV infusion 1000 600 - 700 60 - 70
oral adm.: liposomal form 1000 900 - 950 90 - 95

How is vitamin C processed by the body?

oral adm.: tablets, fizzy tablets, capsules, liquids First enters the gastrointestinal tract where the vitamins unfortunately suffers damage and is greatly reduced by the stomach acid. The small residue is then absorbed in the small intestine, then carriers take it into the blood stream and from there into the cells.
IV infusion Although the vitamin passes directly into the bloodstream, it but must be converted and taken by carriers to the cells first. This uses up energy and thus reduces the efficacy / bioavailability.
oral adm.: liposomal form Passes unscathed through the stomach and directly into the small intestine. Due to the special structure of the liposome, it penetrates the small intestine easily and is immediately released into the bloodstream, from where it then reaches the cells.

Quality of liposomal vitamin C

The best protein suitable for encapsulation is that of lecithin. However, there is a problem: The kind of lecithin usually available on the market is made from GMO soy. By contrast, the lecithin in our products is made from organic, GMO-free sunflowers.

The true quality of a liposomal product is measured in terms of the size of its nanoparticles (the smaller the better), because only the tiny nanoparticles (in our case the encapsulated vitamin C) can be directly absorbed by our cells! See page Guarantee for measurements.

Another ingredient is the so-called phosphatidylcholine which is considered to be an essential part of such a product. Each serving of our liposomal vitamin C contains 1,800 mg of phosphatidylcholine.

Furthermore, we recommend to take vitamin C together with alpha lipoic acid to optimally support the effect of the vitamin. To boot, it helps converting blood sugar to energy to fight diabetes, and is an important antioxidant soluble in both water and fat. The rice germ oil 'Tschamug Khao' is an excellent choice because it contains valuable amounts of Oryzanol. Further information is provided here (in German): Tschamug Khao = rice germ oil.

There are some internet video clips that teach you how to make liposomal vit. C at home, but the result does not have the high efficacy / bioavailability of the professionally nano-manufactured liposome. However, homemade liposome is suitable for preventing diseases such as the flu, or minor infections.

Liposome intake

The product can be mixed with cold beverages to make it more tasty, such as fruit juices. If the daily dose is to be more than one measuring cup (for treating infections, starting flu etc.), we recommend repeated intakes 2-3 hours appart to achieve a steady blood saturation. The dosage may vary depending on the disease. When full saturation is reached, liposomal vit. C acts as a diuretic, which is reflected in an urge to urinate. In this case, the dosage can simply be reduced.
